ABOUT CHILD FIND
With changing time in education, the Oklahoma State Department of Education would like to inform parents about Child Find opportunities.
Child Find is a public awareness activity to locate, identify, and evaluate children ages 3 through 21 who may have disabilities defined under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)( of 2004. A child with a disability means a child evaluated and determined eligible by an eligibility team for Special Education and related services. This is in accordance with the Policies and procedures of Special Education as set forth by the state of Oklahoma and federal guidelines for eligibility under at least one of the following categories:
Autism
Blindess/Visual Impairment
Deaf/Hearing Impairment
Developmental Delay
Emotionally Disturbed
Intellectual Disability
Learning Disability
Multiple Disabilities
Orthopedic Impairment
Other Health Impairments
Speech or Language Impairment
Traumatic Brain Injury
In Oklahoma we require that Child Find apply to all children who are suspected of having a disability and in need of Special Education and related services.
We want to make everyone aware of the services that is proved to children with disabilities free of charge throughout the state of Oklahoma.
