Job Description
Job Title: Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Personnel


 Master’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university
 Valid teacher certificate with administration endorsement
 Administrative experience of at least 5 years
 Experience in curriculum planning, implementation, and evaluation
 Supervisory experience
 Graduate work in education in the areas of curriculum development,
supervision, and instructional practices

Reports To: Superintendent

 Performs supervisory and administrative level duties under limited supervision
to assist the Superintendent.
 Assist in policy development and enforcement to provide students with an
optimum education.
 Provides leadership in the ongoing development and improvement of the
instructional program of the district.
 Guide and direct curriculum decisions and implementation for district wide

An incumbent in this position has regular contact with other school districts and the public.
Must be able to answer information requests from the public, interpret and translate facts and
information, explain situations and concerns, and advise alternative courses of action. Must be
able to handle complaints and deal with upset people using tact and diplomacy; a problem
The incumbent/employee will need to:
A) Be customer focused to resolve problems effectively.
B) Manage human resources and diversity while promoting: productivity and efficiency;
health and safety; employee training and development, empowerment, and appraisal;
constructive corrective counseling and discipline; resolution of complaints or grievances.

C) Manage information and communications with staff and public effectively.
D) Conduct short and long range planning to set and/or attain district goals and objectives.
E) Demonstrate leadership by being a good role model to reinforce productive and
customer-focused behavior; use creativity, innovation, and initiative to identify solutions
to problems.
F) Be a team player with co-workers, subordinates, other managers, and community
leaders to accomplish district goals or objectives.
G) Contribute to the quality of district programs including extracurricular programs; be
involved with personal growth and development.
1. Supervise Elementary and Secondary Principals
2. Supervise the implementation of Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) mandates and
monitors district and building Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP)
3. Coordinates and evaluates the effectiveness of the instructional program in the schools.
Strives to improve instruction in all schools. Anticipates and resolves problems.
4. Oversee the ordering, distribution, and policies of standardized achievement testing for
state mandated and non-state mandated grades. Interprets test results and statistical
data to administrators, staff, and patrons.
5. Works with principals and teacher committees in organizing and coordinating grade
level subject matter and in departmental meetings in order to affect horizontal and
vertical continuity
6. Works with building principals to revise curriculum and course guides for the district.
Recommends various instructional materials for use in the classroom
7. Oversee purchasing and implementation of online curriculum for cost effectiveness and
utilization purposes
8. Works with principals to develop and implement professional development programs
9. Through regular reports, keeps administration and the Board informed concerning all
major developments
10. Supervises and monitors district curriculum and character development initiatives for all
11. Assists and collaborates with principals for summer school programs
12. Supervise the selection of instructional materials including textbooks and online
13. Reports regularly to the Superintendent on any development or problem within the
district requiring the Superintendent’s awareness or action
14. Attends board meetings and meetings as assigned by the Superintendent

15. Keeps abreast of developments in curriculum and instruction, and works collaboratively
to determine their appropriateness for inclusion in the district’s educational program
16. Encourages the development and use of new instructional materials by the professional
17. Works with principals to identify and provide research based professional development
and resources that improve student achievement
18. Remain active with other educational leaders at state, regional, and national levels by
attending relevant conferences and meetings
19. Supervise Mentoring program for new teachers
20. Assist in developing policies and procedures
21. Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent
Due to the level of the position, the incumbent is required to use discretion, ingenuity and
independent judgment in resolving problems.
Work year to be established by the Superintendent. Salary to be established based on years of
service and educational attainment.
