WAGONER MIDDLE SCHOOL

DRESS CODE

The Wagoner Board of Education passed a dress code for Middle School to ensure the safety of our students.

1. All bottoms must be Khaki color. They must be sized appropriately to fit the student’s body size. No big pockets (Cargo pants), NO sagging or Bagging is allowed. You may choose capris, slacks, long length shorts, skirts, skorts. Pants must be solid in color (Khaki -Tan), no green or grey in color and no stripes or visible labels. Regardless of color, wind pants, sweat pants and leather pants are not permitted. They should be cotton or cotton blend.

2. Tops must be either solid black or solid white. They may be short or long sleeved, long enough to tuck in and not able to see through. Tops may be:

(A) Sweat shirt (solid white or black)

(B) Crew neck t-shirts with or without pockets

(C) Henley style shirts long or short sleeved

(D) Wagoner middle school attire approved by Principal

(E) Regular short sleeved under shirts are NOT allowed.

3. Outerwear, such as jackets, coats, vests and sweaters may not be worn in the hallways or classrooms. They must be kept in students lockers. Belts are recommended but not required. All shirts must be tucked in, with exceptions cleared through the Principal’s office.

4. No flip flops, house shoes, or skate shoes will be allowed. Shoes must fit properly for safety reasons. Sandals will be allowed if secured by strap.

No student will be denied attendance at school, penalized, or otherwise subject to compliance measures for failing to wear dress code clothes by reason of financial hardship. If any parent believes that they will be unable to provide for their child with the attire outlined in the dress code due to financial hardship, they should contact the school principal.

Dress code will be in effect on the first day of school. Students who are not in compliance with the dress code will be asked to change into the proper attire. Students who do not comply with this request will be given a warning on first offense, and will be assigned a lunch detention on the next two offenses. A “lunch detention” is a 30 minute teacher detention held at lunch. On the fourth offense the incident will be treated as an INT offense and the student will be assigned 3 days of INT. For students who refuse to comply, the matter will be treated as Defiance of Authority (OSS).

DROP OFF/PICK UP AREA

All students who arrive at school before designated class time will be held in the cafeteria. Designated drop off area and pick up area will be west of the Middle School and not at the front (north end) of the building. Students will enter the cafeteria through the west doors. Please do not park cars in front (north side) of the school or drive through the bus area. Pick students up on the west side of the bus area. This will help to keep down congestion and make it safer for our students. Bus students will be kept in the cafeteria until time to load the buses.

MESSAGES/TEAM TIME

Only emergency messages will be given to students. Please make arrangements about pick up, etc. before sending students to school. This helps to hold down on classroom time being interrupted. All messages will be delivered last hour of the day by e-mail to teachers. If you need to talk to teachers about your child, you can talk to them at their team time. Call 485-9541 and ask for the team room. The team times will be as follows:

Team 6A: 11:15-12:35 (lunch 11:35-12:05) Team 6B: 10:30-11:10

Team 7A: 1:35-2:25 Team 7B: 12:40-1:30

Team 8A: 9:25-10:15 Team 8B: 8:00-9:20

MEDICATIONS

All medicines must be turned into the middle school office and we must have a medical form filled out for school nurse. Routine medicines will only be given at the middle time of day. No medicines will be given mornings or end of day. Please arrange medicines accordingly.

CELL PHONES

Cell phones are not allowed during school time. If a student needs a cell phone, for after school hours, it must be kept in locker and not on their person. If student is caught using a cell phone during school hours, the phone will be turned into the principals office and must be picked up by student’s parent. We will not be responsible for phones being stolen.

EMERGENCY NUMBERS

State law requires an emergency contact number and proper address on each student. Please notify us of any address or phone number change. This will help us in case of an emergency where parent/guardian needs to be notified.
