WAGONER HIGH SCHOOL DRESS CODE 2007-2008 SCHOOL YEAR
1. All students must wear their student Wagoner Public Schools Photo Identification Badge, displayed from a lanyard worn around the neck and in front of their clothing, and visible at all times.
2. Clothing must conceal undergarments which are not appropriate for public view, at all times.
3. Hats, caps, sunglasses, or other head coverings, (including bandannas, head scarves, hoods or “hoodie tops” etc.) are not to be worn in the building.
4. Tops: Shirts, blouses, tops of any kind must have a regular sleeve—short or long. Tops must cover the chest, back, sides, and belly areas at all times. Shirts or blouses/tops must be tucked in and waistband visible at all times. BOE 5/6/07 : Sweatshirts are not to be worn to class.
5. Students must dress in clothing of the proper size for them. (For example: sleeve length, waist size, leg lengths and widths, and width of trousers, jeans, etc. must be sized appropriately to the student’s body size— No Sagging or Bagging is allowed; this includes items which are too tight as well as too loose.
6. Bottoms: All pants, jeans, skirts, or other bottoms must be no shorter than at the middle of the knee length at all times. Sweats/wind suits are not acceptable school wear. **Exceptions may be made for physical education, athletics, or other special occasions as pre-approved by the site principal or his/her designee.
** No sagging or bagging pants, jeans, or other sagging-type bottoms are allowed. No pajamas or pajama bottoms, or other flannel-type bottoms are allowed. No chains or other objects hanging from pants.
7 . Dresses must not be shorter than mid-knee length. Slits in dresses and skirts must not extend above the knee.
8 . Fabrics in all garment types may not be mesh, see-through, have holes, tears, or be frayed.
9. Students must wear shoes at school; house shoes of any type are prohibited at all times.
10. Oversized or bulky jackets, sweatshirts, etc., must be left in the student’s locker. No trench coat type coats may be worn to school or school activities. BOE 5/6/07 : All outerwear that cannot be tucked in with visible waistline must be kept in locker.
11. Lettering, signs, slogans, jewelry, or other accessories that promote gangs or gang-related activities or which are obscene, including items of sexual content, overtones, or innuendos, which promote violence, illicit or illegal behavior or activities, including alcohol, tobacco, and/or drug representations or advertisements are prohibited at school and school activities.
12. Hairstyles, jewelry/body jewelry or piercings and makeup—these and other accessory fashion styles or items should not cause a distraction in the school environment with exotic colors, height/width, length, or cause a health or safety hazard for the students. |
