Mission Statement
The Mission of Wagoner Public Schools is to empower all students to be life-long learners who contribute economically, culturally, and socially to the changing communities in which they live and work.
Established in 1897, the Wagoner Public School System is the oldest public school district in the state. Over the years the student population has grown to a current enrolment of 2,499. With the creation of an Alternative School in 1995 and the re-opening of Lincoln School for the 2000-2001 school year as a Preschool, the district now has total of 7 schools.
New libraries, classrooms, cafeterias, and athletic facilities are now being enjoyed by the students, and also by parents, employees, and the citizens of Wagoner
Wagoner Public Schools offers a broad-based curriculum aligned with Oklahoma P.A.S.S. standards. All sites are accredited through the rigorous, voluntary evaluation of the North Central Accreditation process. Classroom instruction places emphasis on meeting individual student needs. At Wagoner High School twelve Advanced Placement courses are offered. The Gifted Education Coordinator monitors activities for gifted students at all sites to provide enrichment opportunities within the classroom as well as providing other enrichment involvements. Other student special needs are coordinated by the Director of Special Services. Wagoner Public Schools offers an Exemplary Early Childhood Education program, which includes a full-day Pre-School program and Kindergarten staffed with Early Childhood Education Specialists, who provide developmentally appropriate school readiness activities. The philosophy of all Wagoner Public Schools faculty and staff is that all students can learn and will be offered the opportunity to succeed.
Wagoner Public Schools Provide a variety of excellent academic and extracurricular programs for our students, characterized by team effort, cooperation with local government, and the fostering of partnerships with the patrons of our district. Wagoner Public Schools will continue to develop and deliver an outstanding educational experience for our future leaders.
Community Bond Issue projects and Building Fund construction projects have created safer and more aesthetic educational surroundings for our children. The technology in our classrooms has been "up-graded" and increased for all grade levels and teachers. Underway this year, and extending over the next five years, plans call for the introduction of 100 of some of the most advanced computers currently available for student use.
The educational opportunity for students in Wagoner, Oklahoma has been enhanced considerably in recent years. Facilities, equipment, and curriculum improvements have been extensive. A team effort by the employees of Wagoner Public Schools, assisted by the City of Wagoner, and Wagoner County officials has resulted in an educational process and physical plant that are described with pride by our patrons
All Buildings Inspected for Asbestos in accordance with E.P.A. mandates on February 20, 2003 by the Licensed and Accredited Inspectors of Northeast Asbestos Management Services.

Results of the initial inspections, samples and any subsequent analysis are on file for public review and may be examined.

Accordingly, monitoring and maintaining all asbestos in our school is in accordance with AHERA REGULATIONS OF OUR MANAGEMENT PLAN.

All buildings are scheduled for periodic surveillance every six months.

Under AHERA (Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act), school buildings must be re-inspected every three years. The Wagoner Public Schools AHERA three year re-inspection was completed on August 22, 2000, by Lonnie H. O’Dell, license #OKMP130120 the Licensed and Accredited inspector of Northeast Asbestos Management of 1990 S. 71st East, Muskogee, Oklahoma 74403.

A copy of the Asbestos Management Plan is on file in the Superintendent’s Office at 308 N.E. 2nd Street, Wagoner, Oklahoma, 74467 and is available for inspection during normal office hours.

Notification of Rights Under FERPA Elementary and Secondary Institutions

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) affords parents and students over 18 years of age (“eligible students”) certain rights with respect to the student’s education records. They are the following:

1. The right to inspect and review the student’s education record within 45 days from the day the district receives a request for access.
2. Parents or eligible students should submit to the school principal (or appropriate school official) a written request that identifies the record(s) they with to inspect. The principal will make arrangements for access and notify the parent or eligible student of the time and place where the records may be inspected.
3. The right to request the amendment of the student’s education records that the parent or eligible student believes are inaccurate or misleading.
4. Parents or eligible students may ask the Wagoner School District to amend a record that they believe is inaccurate or misleading. They should write the school principal, clearly identify the part of the record they want changed, and specify what is inaccurate or misleading.
5. If the district decides not to amend the record as requested by the parent or eligible student, the district will notify the parent or eligible student of the decision and advise them of their right to a hearing regarding the request for amendment. Additional information regarding the hearing procedures will be provided to the parent or eligible student when notified of the right to a hearing.
6. The right to consent to disclosures of personally identifiable information contained in the student’s records, except to the extent that FERPA authorizes disclosure without consent.
7. One exception, which permits disclosure without consent, is disclosure to school officials with legitimate educational interest. A school official is a person employed by the district as an administrator, supervisor, instructor, or support staff member (including health or medical staff and lawn enforcement unit personnel); a person serving on the school board; a person or company with whom the district has contracted to perform a special task (such as an attorney, auditor, medical consultant, or therapist); or a parent or student serving on an official committee, such as disciplinary or grievance committee, or assisting another school official in performing his/her task.
8. A school official has a legitimate educational interest if the official needs to review an education record in order to fulfill his/her professional responsibility.
9. Upon request, the district discloses educational records without consent to officials of another school district in which a student seeks or intends to enroll.
10. The right to file a complaint with the U.S. Department of Education concerning alleged failures by the district to simply with the requirements of FERPA. The name and address of the office that administers FERPA is
